Privacy & Data Protection

We're pretty serious about keeping your info safe and treating it right

The Basics

Updated for 2024 & PIPEDA compliant

Look, we get it - privacy policies can be a slog to read through. We've tried to make ours actually readable because, honestly, we think you deserve to know what happens with your information.

Running an architecture studio means we work with people's dreams, their homes, their businesses. That's personal stuff. So yeah, we take data protection seriously - not just 'cause Canadian law says we have to (though PIPEDA compliance is real), but because it's the right thing to do.

This policy covers everything we do at Duskart Quintor Architecture - from our website interactions to client consultations and project work. If something's unclear, just shoot us a message. We'd rather explain it properly than hide behind legal jargon.

  • Mailing address
  • Company name if you're representing one
  • Project location details
Project Information

Heads up: We only collect what we actually need. If we're asking for something, it's because it helps us do our job better or it's required by law.

How We Use Your Info

We're not gonna beat around the bush here. Your information helps us do our work and serve you better. Here's the deal:

Project Delivery

Creating designs, managing your project, coordinating with contractors, handling permits - basically everything we promised to do when you hired us.

Communication

Responding to your inquiries, sending project updates, scheduling meetings. We're not gonna spam you - just the stuff that matters.

Legal Stuff

Contracts, invoicing, tax records. Y'know, the boring but necessary paperwork that keeps everything above board.

Improving Our Work

Understanding what works, what doesn't, and how we can get better. We analyze trends but never in a way that identifies you personally.

Marketing (With Permission)

If you've opted in, we'll send occasional updates about our work, sustainability insights, or design trends. You can opt out anytime - no hard feelings.

Who We Share With (And Why)

We're not in the business of selling your data. Period. But sometimes we need to share info to get your project done:

Engineers, contractors, consultants - the folks who help bring designs to life. They only get what's relevant to their part of the job, and they're bound by their own confidentiality agreements.

Municipal offices, building departments, heritage committees - whoever needs to review and approve your project. It's required by law, and we can't really build anything without it.

Cloud storage, email services, project management tools - the tech that keeps our studio running. We vet these providers carefully and make sure they meet Canadian privacy standards.

If we're legally required to disclose information (court orders, regulatory investigations, etc.), we'll comply. But we'll always notify you first unless we're legally prevented from doing so.

Cookies & Tracking

Yeah, we use cookies. Not the chocolate chip kind (though we wish). These are little data files that help our website work better.

Cookie Type What It Does Can You Opt Out?
Essential Makes the site actually work - login sessions, security features Nope - needed for basic function
Analytics Shows us which pages people visit, how long they stay, etc. Yes - adjust in your browser
Preference Remembers your choices like language or layout preferences Yes - but you'll lose personalization

Most browsers let you control cookies through settings. Just know that blocking some cookies might make the site less functional.

Your Rights (And We Actually Mean It)

Under Canadian privacy law, you've got some solid rights. Here's what you can do:

Access Your Data

Ask us what info we've got on you. We'll send you a copy within 30 days, no charge for the first request.

Correct Mistakes

If something's wrong or outdated, let us know. We'll fix it ASAP.

Request Deletion

Want us to delete your data? We will, unless we're legally required to keep it (like tax records).

Withdraw Consent

Changed your mind about marketing emails or other optional stuff? One click and you're out.

Important: While we'll honor these rights, some info needs to stick around for legal reasons - contracts, invoices, professional liability stuff. We keep that for 7 years as required by Ontario law.

How We Protect Your Data

We're not gonna lie - perfect security doesn't exist. But we do everything reasonably possible to keep your information safe:

  • Encrypted connections (that's the "https" in our URL)
  • Secure cloud storage with Canadian data centers
  • Regular security audits and updates
  • Limited access - only team members who need it get it
  • Strong passwords and two-factor authentication
  • Physical security for paper documents (yes, we still use some)

If there's ever a data breach that affects you, we'll let you know within 72 hours and tell you exactly what happened and what we're doing about it.

Updates to This Policy

Laws change, technology evolves, our practices improve. When we update this policy, we'll post the new version here with a revised date. If it's a major change, we'll email you about it.

We recommend checking back every now and then, especially if it's been a while since your last visit.
